Why Families Choose Solace

Most programs stop at childhood autism. We don't.

The majority of programs worldwide are dedicated solely to autism in children aged 2–9. But IDD includes Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, Fragile X syndrome and many other conditions — and it is an increasing reality for teenagers and adults too.

  • Built for individuals with IDD aged 10 and older
  • Covers complex medical conditions, not just behavior
  • Empowers families with little or no medical background
  • Promotes lifelong independence and self-sufficiency
Community Stories

Voices from families we walk alongside.

Real experiences from caregivers, parents, and siblings who found a steadier path through Solacepoint.

I have spent many years looking for a program just like this! My 23-year-old brother with IDD has medical needs too. This digital training program offers an all-inclusive approach, covering everything from behavioral issues to healthy meal preparation. The one-on-one online lessons were customized to our circumstances, and the in-person group sessions fostered a supportive environment.

Taking care of an individual with IDD without a background in medicine is the biggest challenge for a family. The information is presented so clearly that anyone can understand it. Every facet is covered in the online sessions. Our family is now more equipped to handle the challenges brought on by IDD, and we are grateful for this program's priceless assistance.

As caregiver for my elderly sister with IDD, the extensive training covering medical conditions, social determinants of health, and communication skills significantly impacted our lives. The combination of virtual and in-person meetings worked perfectly for our schedule. The program's focus on promoting independence has completely changed the way we provide care.

It's not easy to manage an adult with IDD within a limited budget. This training program was so comprehensive and easy to follow. It taught us valuable skills to promote her independence and manage her health effectively — and it's a great initiative for families outside the United States or those who can't attend in-person sessions.

Quick Answers

Questions families often ask.

Who is the SolacePoint program for?
Our services are designed for families and caregivers of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who are 10 years of age and older — including autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, Fragile X syndrome and other neurodevelopmental conditions.
We live outside the USA. Can we still join?
Yes. The digital training program is available to families around the globe. Only the group sessions and home lessons are limited to the DMV area (DC, Maryland, Virginia).
Do we need a medical background to benefit?
Not at all. The program is designed for families with little to no prior medical knowledge. Complex topics — genetic disorders, medication side effects, chronic conditions — are explained in plain, practical language.

Let's create a future in which your family members can prosper.
